Workers in the value chain

We are committed to respecting and promoting human rights and decent working conditions throughout our operations and in our supply chain.

Employers in protective clothing

Respect for human rights underpins everything we do. We will conduct our business in line with:

  • OECD Guidelines for Responsible Business
  • UN Guiding Priciples on Business and Human Rights
  • UN Global Compact Ten Principles

Hafslund supports the ILO Decleration on Fundamental Right of Workers, which includes freedom of association, the right to collective bargaining and measures against discrimination and forced- and child labor.

We are working to improve internal routines and processes for supplier due diligence, and work on implementation will continue in 2025.

Systematic risk assessment

We work to ensure a systematic risk assessment and follow-up of violations of human rights and decent working conditions. Our risks change according to changes in our business areas. We have currently assessed that there may be a high risk in the following areas, which will be prioritized for further mapping and measures:

  1. Operation and maintenance contracts

Operation and maintenance contracts in Norway, with the risk of workplace crime such as violations of wages and working conditions, etc. among suppliers and their subcontractors who perform work for us.

  2. Purchasing of input factors

Purchasing of input factors for combustion plants, such as biodiesel and pellets, which have associated global value chains.

  3. Upholding human rights

Upholding human rights in raw material extraction and production of components for hydro, solar and wind power plants, with complex global value chains.
